# Arc Exit Checklist (free file, kitwisestudio.com/free/arc)
Kitwise Studio. Checked against The Browser Company's Arc Help Center on Oct 24, 2026. Not affiliated with The Browser Company.

## The dates that matter (Arc Help Center, "Arc Sunset: Key Dates and What to Expect")
- Oct 22, 2026: sunset announced. New Arc accounts can no longer be created.
- Nov 23, 2026: Arc Search for iOS and Android keeps working as a browser, but AI features turn off and sign-in and sync stop. Arc for Mac and Windows starts showing sunset reminders.
- Dec 15, 2026: last day to request a copy of your Arc account's personal data, or ask for it to be deleted.
- Dec 22, 2026: Arc for Mac and Windows stops working, you can no longer sign in, all accounts are deactivated. Personal data tied to the account is deleted within 30 days. Arc Search for Android is removed from Google Play and from devices. Arc Search for iOS keeps working as a mobile browser.

## What does NOT come with you (Arc Help Center, "How Do I Export My Data from Arc?")
- Boosts: cannot be exported and do not come over to Dia.
- Easels: stored with your Arc account and do not come over to Dia. Save each one as a PNG (open it, Share icon bottom right, Share Via...).
- Saved payment methods and autofill data: Dia does not import them from any browser (Arc Help Center, "Move from Arc to Dia"). Note the cards and addresses you rely on.
- The Arc tab export is a list of links (Arc Data Export.md), not a bookmarks file. It does not carry passwords or history.

## Path 1: moving to Dia (about 5 minutes)
1. Download Dia at diabrowser.com/download.
2. When Dia asks which browser to import from, pick Arc. (Already on Dia? Mac: Dia > Import from Another Browser... Windows: Dia menu > Import from another browser...)
3. Choose which extensions to install.
4. Windows only: quit Arc first, or you get a "Cookies file locked" message.
5. Keep Arc installed until the import finishes. Importing does not change or delete anything in Arc.
Per Arc's Help Center, Dia brings over Spaces, Favorites, pinned tabs, folders, bookmarks, history, passwords and extensions. Each Arc Space becomes a Dia Profile.

Not imported to Dia: saved payment methods and autofill data. Arc's Help Center ("Move from Arc to Dia"): "Dia also doesn't import saved payment methods or autofill data from any browser." Before you switch, note which saved cards and addresses you rely on, then add them again in Dia. Source: https://resources.arc.net/hc/en-us/articles/44413129117591-Move-from-Arc-to-Dia

## Path 2: moving to another browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)
1. Export Spaces and tabs. Mac: Arc > Settings > Advanced > Export Data. Windows: Ctrl + , then Advanced > Export Spaces and tabs > Export Data.
2. Save Arc Data Export.md somewhere you will find it. Open it in any text editor and bookmark the links you want.
3. One folder only: right-click the folder in the sidebar > Copy All Links (Mac: hold Option for Copy All Links as Markdown).
4. Passwords, bookmarks and history: use your new browser's own import tool, then check that the important items arrived. TechRepublic notes the tab export "should not be treated as a complete browser backup."
5. Save every Easel you care about as a PNG.
6. Write down what each Boost did. You will need to rebuild it as an extension or a userscript.

## Before Dec 15
- [ ] Decide if you want a copy of your Arc account data, and request it before Dec 15 (see the Arc Help Center for the request route).

## Before Dec 22
- [ ] Import or export done and spot-checked (5 logins, 5 bookmarks, 1 pinned folder).
- [ ] Easels saved as PNG.
- [ ] Boosts noted.
- [ ] Default browser switched in your OS settings.
- [ ] Android users: copy open tabs out of Arc Search (Settings > Storage > Export data) before it is removed.
